One 60-day voyage through Australia is being halted days after the fatal incident of an older lady who was left behind by the ship on a remote tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the group for a break. The ship left without her and came back after some time after the crew became aware the passenger was unaccounted for.

A major hunt located her person the following day.

Officials are examining the tragedy, alongside investigators and the state coroner.

The CEO of the cruise operator said that guests and crew on the ship were told that the remainder of the journey had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and previous mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he mentioned that passengers would be issued a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to organize the travel back of the travelers via private aircraft".

Authorities also released an latest communication, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Master" banning any new passengers from boarding the vessel.

The official said that they would attend the vessel in the Australian city upon its arrival.

The vessel initially left the coastal city on 24 October, and was just two days into the voyage at the time of the senior passenger's passing. The tropical location was the opening port on the itinerary.
