Dominant Sabalenka Secures Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Awards.

Aryna Sabalenka in action
The Belarusian player concluded the year with an outstanding 23-3 Grand Slam win-loss record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old captured four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of Consistency

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in prize money.

She earned almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Honorees

  • Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals.
