The Renowned Musician Urges Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it fails to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down following a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of performers appearing on Lullaby includes a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a group of talented individuals. The song features a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The group managing the campaign have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These donations will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative commented. “We aim for whatever we can get. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the region was noted for its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
